Read time: 8-10 minutes

The act of writing is an art unlike any other. We engage with our light and dark, unlock the unconscious and provide an outlet for all that's within. Think of journaling as having a conversation with your higher consciousness and sometimes your subconscious.

When we begin a consistent journaling practice, we enter the realm of the Energy Alchemist. Alchemé is the melding together of seemingly disparate ingredients together for transformation. The Alchemé of journaling takes our pain and trauma and transforms it into gold. Or peace, or art, whatever you hold the intention to transform it into, writing is a powerful tool to do so.

Journaling makes energy tangible.

Energy Alchemé is based on the understanding that all things are first energy at the start. A thought, a piece of art, and the device you're reading this post on all started as energy. Your history of life experiences, many of which are no longer tangible and consciously available to you, still exist as energy held within and around you. Journaling is the key that unlocks this energy so that it can be released and transformed.
Whether done with a general intent for healing or a more specific intention, making the intangible energy of your thoughts and the energy of your traumatic experiences tangible through the written word is profoundly healing.

Journaling allows for unblocking of traumatic memories.

One of the many reasons to try journalling is that it can help you to access repressed memories. If you've tried to unblock these memories with therapy, self-help books, or other methods without success, journalling may be what you need to get to the root of your issue. This journal can be a place to get out all your feelings, thoughts, and experiences you have repressed in your lifetime. You can write about your entire life or just journal about one specific thing you have been avoiding. The important part is to get these emotions, thoughts, and memories out on paper so they can be released and transformed.

The Alchemé of journaling takes practice.

And by practice, I mean consistently sitting down with your pen and paper creates magic. Whether you're old school or a digital maven, the Alchemé of journaling doesn't come from plucking away at a keyboard but by putting pen (or pencil) to paper. Creating consistency may seem challenging if you've never had a consistent journaling practice. I've got a few tips that will support you.

Pencil it in

When it comes to ensuring something is remembered, nothing is better than putting it on our calendar. Like any other appointment or meeting, the moment we have it on our calendar, it's a reminder to get it done. Bonus points if you set the alarm to go off as a reminder to pause what you're doing and pull out your journal.

Bonus tip: Pencil it in for early in the day. The sooner, the better. This will help you avoid putting it off as unimportant compared to everything else you have on your to-do-list

Set a timer

The beauty of energetic Alchemé is that it's not a time-sucking event. The real magic is effortless and flows precisely as is needed without any actual conscious doing or muscling of our own. Not to mention that when we're just getting started, it helps to have a start and ending time to create a container. Set a timer for 10-minutes and write until that timer goes off. If you feel like continuing, you can, but it's not mandatory.

Don't focus on what you're doing.

Seriously, don't get hung up on what you're writing or if it's spelled correctly or is appropriately formatted. The goal isn’t for it to look pretty; just write. It's not the prompt that is the magic; the magic is the energy of simply putting pen to paper. You could start writing about one thing and end your time on an entirely different subject. You may not even understand what you wrote at the end of your 10-minutes!
It doesn't matter!
The Alchemé is an opening for energy to flow in and out. The actual content, how it looks, and everything else that our humanness gets tangled up in is irrelevant.

And just in case you're worried, let me remind you that you can't fuck it up. Its fool-proof. Energy is consciousness, and you don't need to do it a sure way to do it right. You just need to do it.

Happy writing!
